P&O Artemis Damaged by Waves March 11, 2008

P&O Artemis Hit By Rogue Wave After Embarking In Rough Weather

Weather conditions were not fit to sail causing a day delay in port, causing passengers some grief, the weather was severe enough even much of the ground transportation was canceled affecting some trains aand flights due to the gale force winds.

Numerous roads were closed to do wind damage and flooding rains. Even the Port of Dover was closed.

After being slapped by a rogue wave in the English Channel, Artemis has her bow damaged, with injury to her anchor stowage.

The ship immediately turned back around and headed back into port, causing even more delay to the cruise.

She was off the coast of France, when the captain decided to pull the vessel into Falmouth, unscheduled.

Scheduled to take the Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean, but a complete inspection and repairs were needed before the voyage could begin again.

The ship was scheduled to call in Corunna, Spain, but due to repairs in Falmouth, the call was missed.

Repairs were made and Artemis arrived back in Antigua on March 19th.
